Royal dog, 2005
The Chihuahua dogs are called a toy breed. This breed has increased tremendously among breeders and pet owners in the past few years. It's the smallest breed of dog in the world - it weighs 2-12 punds and has a height between 6-9 inches. Often you'll see one of these dogs in the glittering magazines - the dog has become a symbol of fame, fashion, and friends. It's a toy and an accessory, that you buy to create a certain image of yourself.
In these art works, the paper shows the fragility and simplicity of the dog, but newspapers and magazines are also the medium that we often use to show the world who we are. The shoes and bones in bronze illustrates the accessories that we're buying for the dogs, and the heaviness of these items contra the "lightweight" dog.
